A letter from McAlpine to Mr. Johnston, 7 Maxwell Street Edinburgh, 24 February, 1880. An attached note describes the original ms. and the proposed work. The writer discusses the plates for the zoological atlas, the size of the textbook and the drawings for the botanical atlas, etc. Probably the letter was sent to Robert Mackenzie Johnston, author of 'Field memoranda for Tasmanian botanists', Catalogue of Tasmanian fishes', etc.
